I can’t say I’ll never go back for more grinding and to check out the other drops, but that was definitely my initial reaction after this week.
That just isn’t the case, so people feel duped, and it does not seem like the next three DLCs are different than the one we’re seeing here. This feels misleading because in the past, Borderlands season passes feel like safe buys, so you would assume that since Wonderlands was a Borderlands quality game (if not Borderland size), the DLC would be quality as well. Looking back to $3 Headhunter DLCs back in the day, that was wildly more content compared to what we see here, which is, no joke a 7-10 minute run of a singular dungeon that’s barely different than what we already have. The second problem is the content of the DLC itself, which just does not mater past Borderland standards, despite being a similar price, or even higher. Borderlands has always has a problem with DLCs that raise level caps and gear caps negating all of your past gear, but to do so after a month feels too extreme for me. My main issue is that it took me about a month to finally get one of my classes up to begin to farm Chaos 20 comfortably, and then immediately it shoots up to 35, so I have to do the same process I just did for 25 more levels and replace all my gear with now more quickly-dropping Volatile variants as I march toward Primordial gear at Chaos 35. I think my main problem here is twofold: first, expectations for DLC set by past Borderlands games and second, the timing of this recent Chaos cap raise. Update (4/25): Alright, I’ve done some further reflecting on this, and realize that perhaps I veered too much into “rage quity” mode here, but I’ll try to revisit this with a calmer head.
